Slap on the Hand Given to Second Man Connected with Bulger’s Murder

Inmate Paul J. DeCologero claimed he acted as a “look out” within Bulger’s cell as fellow inmate Fotios Geas beat the aged, wheelchair bound, and dying Jim “Whitey” Bulger to death. DeCologero’s sentence for being an accessory in the high-profile murder was equal to a slap on the hand. But that seems to be the way things go within the DOJ when it comes to those criminals willing to testify against or participate in the murder of Bulger. The interesting thing — which almost all overlook — is that most of these criminals have confessed to more cold-blooded, heinous murders than Bulger. The combination of the crimes of those rewarded to testify against him — or kill him — far outweigh the crimes of Bulger himself. The scale of a gagged Justitia, holding these combined crimes, lay on the floor, its chains limp, as the bodies of those not vindicated spill off the scale. The scale of Bulger’s crimes — though certainly weighted — reaches the highest point possible in comparison.

And, no one asks why….

Geas and DeCologero claim they killed Bulger because he was a “snitch.” And so they, like millions of others, were led to believe this by corrupted FBI agents John Morris and John Connolly. What a great yarn was started to cover the depth of their depravity and the incompetence of the Boston FBI at the time! (Let’s not remember that other honest FBI agents testified in Bulger’s trial, shedding light on Morris/Connolly’s false claim of Bulger being an informant) And, of course there were the eager journalists, editor, and owner of the Boston Globe, who were spoon-fed this tale by the self-serving Morris, and eager to forsake ethical boundaries of journalism to break this unsubstantiated story.

Not surprising — neither the members of the Winter Hill Gang or the New England Mafia believed the desperate story of Morris and Connolly when they first made claim to Bulger being an informant. If they had, Bulger would have been killed long ago. The tale was spun and spun and spun some more. Bulger’s absence and silence while on the lam gave it traction. An thus, the narrative of two murderous FBI agents (and the agency as a whole to cover up their incompetence in the matter) and the unethical practices of the Boston Globe (quickly adopted by the Boston Herald and national media) force-fed to the American public that Bulger was an FBI informant. (Any one ever wonder why, if it were true, it didn’t earn Bulger some respect from the FBI?)

Bottom line seems to be this: We all eagerly ingested the highly dramatized and edited narrative of Bulger’s total depravity — even the Mafia fell into the pit of believing the created fiction of him being an FBI informant.

Was Bulger a criminal? Yes.

Did he commit many murders? Yes.

More murders than John Matorano? No. More crimes than John Matorano? No

More murders than Steve Flemmi? No. More crimes than Steve Flemmi? No

So why is the DOJ so eager to make us believe that Matorano, Flemmi, and a slew of others who testified against (or killed) Bulger are no danger to the public and free to live out their lives as free men but Bulger was a monster? Why was this exaggerated narrative of Bulger created? Who, or what federal organization(s) does it serve?

Finding out who ordered Bulger to be sent to USP Hazelton to be assassinated might offer a clue. (Hint — the order most certainly came from outside the BOP.)

Conspiracy theory? No, a true conspiracy.
